That immediately shows me no mount options are going to work, that it's time 
to talk to the people who write the software.

I'm sure there's a relevant mailing list some place. Check the kernel docs for 
starters.

A BZ report would help too. Include details of the camera make & model, the 
relts of "lspci -v -v," your kernel version (and whether it's customised), 
relevant kernel messages (USB detection, drivers loaded etc), the results of 
that cat command and of "ls -l /dev/sda*"
