As the unfortunate soul who must "teach" the occasional new employee "the computer
stuff", I sure as hell like it when the walk in the door knowing how to open a
file, how to save a file, and how to use "explorer" to find their file(s).

If they know this stuff it is because somewhere before I see them, someone taught
them the basics of using windows, and to that person I owe much thanks. Knowing how
to open a blank "word processing" document, how to spellcheck, how to print a
mailing label. These small things can either consume my time needlessly, or none at
all if they know it already.

And "computer training" is not cheap, and it takes a while to find good ones for
people to go to.

Anyway, the more "stuff (collectively - apps like email, word docs, file dialogs,
browsers)" is already known to the new user, the more time and money we save. I
really do not care what desktop it is (obviously MS right now) as long as those
conditions are met.
