Radeon 8500

I have a Radeon 8500DV and am having trouble getting
it working in Null.  I downloaded and installed the
binary drivers on ATI's website which, according to
the site, are supposed to enable 3d support for the
Radeon.  2d works just fine, but no 3d.  I think the
driver is installed, but "glxinfo" shows the mesa
drivers still loaded.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
