Hyperthreaded CPU has some additional hardware resources that allows it to pick the instructions to dispatch to the execution units from two (or more) separate threads. This is supposed to result in better utilization of the available execution pipelines. Athlons and Durons are superscalar but not hyperthreaded, they handle only a single instruction stream at a time. -- Markku Kolkka [email protected]
