I had a similar problem. It seemed to be when I asked to stop a burn before it started to write that things got all jammed up. Unloading and restarting xcdroast didnt fix it. In my instance it seemed to be caused by my sense of timing in choosing to stop the burn. The cd did not appear to recover cleanly, I am running emulation mode too. I guess its time to check this one in as a bug... I'll search first then post if needed.
