I think this is a fair and indeed very interesting question because: 1. Red Hat needs to compete for customers. To compete effectively, it needs to advertise more. Why not advertise in MSDN Magazine and other print bastions of Microsoft software. Take the bull by the horns. The issues will be price/performance. 2. Showing a price/performance advantage and ease of use is critical to winning converts. That price/performance advantage needs to be trumpeted to the masses. Red Hat is improving in the user friendliness department, but still has much work to do in that area. To make the OS popular, it must become extremely easy to use and overcome the prejudices and fears of the average user. What you and I think doesn't count. What Microsoft users think counts a whole lot, because these are the potential converts. Best strategy is to emphasize price/performance and offer free help with installation whether you download the CD set or buy the boxed sets. Admit ease of use issues exist but will be addressed.
