I'd guess that the next release of the Enterprise line will probably
be a distant cousin of 8.0, but perhaps with the 2.4.20 kernel and/or
NPTL.  (In particular, although NPTL has caused some compatibility
headaches, it looks to be a big win for threaded apps.)

Really, though, the "8.0 or 9?" question doesn't matter to me a whole
lot.  I'm fairly confident most of the things I care about will be in
the next Enterprise release, simply because 1) they're not that
complicated, and 2) they were already included in 8.0 (if not 7.3).
