I have a script that uses XV to write into X's root window ("xv
-root"). This has worked just fine on many different Unix boxen. It
works just fine on KDE on RH 8.0. It does not work on Gnome. Using
Gnome's tools for setting the desktop does not do what I want. How do
I write to the desktop on gnome?
