Hi

Installing Oracle(8.1.7 release 3) on a Linux box:

Up2date compat_libs ( or download the appropriate RPM
from RedHat’s site)
            Up2date compat_egcs
            Up2date compat_glibc

            Ln –s /usr/java/jre1.3.1_06 /usr/local/lib/jre ( java
runtime RPM installed from Suns web site prior to setting this link)

Set environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
Execute /usr/i386_glibc2.1-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux_env.sh

If you have access to Oracle’s support site metalink.oracle.com
refeerence tar/csi 2789057

I am not sure if my dashes should not be underscores in the lines above.
Good luck.

The Oracle installer just hangs without this.

Sincerely
John Markunas

Subject: redhat php and remote server oracle

I have an urgent problem
I have to connect my RH 7.1 Linux box to an Oracle Server. The Oracle
server is supposed to be on the same Linux box server. The Linux box has
already installed Apache, PHP but Oracle not yet. I have Oracle on
another server running on Win NT 4.0.
I'ld to allow my users to work by connecting them to the Win NT Oracle
remote server while I try to install Oracle on the Linux box.
Could you please send me some explanations on how
1- connect my Linux box with php to the remote NT 4.0 Oracle server
2- Install and configure Oracle on the Linux box

I tried a lot of things without success
Regards

Jean Solon Vallès
