I saw the exact same message (even 4294967295) when I first tried to install the 
SMP kernel.  I tried downloading it twice, then again from a different URL. 
Checksums were the same.  Finall I added the -vv and -h options and it installed 
just fine.  I have no explanation and have not seen the error again.
