I'm most definitely confused from all the documentation. I thought that the fs.file-max value & the user's limit (ulimit -n) were related. I've experimented by uping the systems fs.file-max value & the user still hits the user imposed limit, the default. I have also gone as far as trying to change that default value w/in /etc/profile ... no luck there either. How you get around this problem? Is it possible with RH Linux 7.1?
