Mark, I'm saying it again:
If RedHat does not provide packages for Apache2.0, Perl 5.8, .... get 
the tarballs, read the instructions, and go on with some [ ./configure; 
make; make install ]
Another solution is trying to get those packs from another source. Gotta 
seach for them on http://www.rpmfind.net .
Even if the compiled pack fitting to your environnment isn't available, 
you can find dome .src.rpm and then rebuild them. If you don't expressly 
need the newer software features, don't install them, unless it it to 
see how they work.

Yesterday I said I've still not tried RH9. And I think I won't. Why ?? 
Bekoz they  kicked WindowMaker and Wine from the release due to 
"Developer resource constraint" (what does that mean ??). They may also 
remove LILO in the future (an heresy). And, thanks Garry, now I 
understand better why my 8.0 didn't work well (buggy rpm, ...).
Is RedHat now in the same mind than M$, I mean releasing some 
nice-looking-but-buggy OS ?? I hope not. RedHat is a major foundry that 
"improved" a lot linux (like Debian is) and that would be a great loss 
for our community. The latest realy stable release they made was 7.3. 
But I had not time enough to stabilize it on my main system (it's a 
multi service server, main job is Internet services managing for my 
network). But soon I will re-install it on my workstation, and put my 
hands in it...
