Try SANE at www.mostang.com/sane/ Your scanner is listed there as supported by one of their backends so it should work without a lot of hassle. I have 3 different scanners that I'm using under Redhat and Sane. Mine are all SCSI, and SCSI has the best support, but the USB scanners are starting to be supported now too.
