Drivers, Drivers...

Hello Hats,

I have problem configuring 2 hardware devices on my Shrike:

1. Creative AudigyLS sound card. I use ALSA 1.0.8 with snd-ca0106
driver. The problem is that I only get sound on Analog Front channel,
and the rest (Analog C, Analog R and Analog U) have no effect on my 5.1
speakers.

2. HP ScanJet 2400 flatbed scanner. Has anyone configured Xsane to work
with this Linux unfriendly offering from HP?

If someone has any of these 2 devices and managed to work properly on
Shrike, please help. Some pointers on the Net would be helpful too,
although I haven't been lucky in that job myself.
