If you must compile the kernel yourself, the source is at
http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/9/updates/SRPMS/kernel-2.4.20-42.9.legacy.src.rpm

I can't give guidance, except to say your kernel is out of date. The
latest RedHat 9 one from fedora is 2.4.20-42.9. Just in case the kernel
has been improved to make your printer work, and to protect your system,
you should upgrade your kernel. Use yum, up2date, or some other update
program, or get it from, say,
http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/9/updates/i386/ .
The advantage of using an update program is you can easily get all the
upgrades you should have by now, and they may need to be installed before
the kernel upgrade is completed.
