Hi, Thanks a lot. I could upgrade RHEL AS 3 Update 3 to Update 6 The following steps were necessary. 1. Downloaded & Installed yum. 2. Installed apache. 3 Copied all the .rpm's, from all the RedHat U6 CD's to one of the folders in the apache docroot. 4 Ran yum-arch 5 Updated the /etc/yum.conf, to provide the URL for U6 packages. 6 Ran yum -y update. I got the following error at the end though: Kernel Updated/Installed, checking for bootloader Lilo found - adding kernel to lilo and making it the default rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - (-30982) error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm Thanks On 5/5/06, Sharpe, Sam J <sam.sharpe-AQ/[email protected]> wrote: > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: [email protected] > > > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Inaki Sanchez > > > Sent: 05 May 2006 11:31 > > > To: Discussion of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (Taroon) > > > Subject: Re: Please let me know the steps in breif to upgrade > > > toRHELAS3 Update6. > > > > > > Boot the server with the first CD of U6, start the installation > > > process and select "Upgrade an existing system" > > > Alternatively, you can setup a yum repository with the U6 > > CD's, point > > > the server to it and upgrade with "yum -y update" > > > > ...
