Hi,

Is the Update 6 kernel(kernel-2.4.21-37) installed ?
# rpm -q kernel

And then check your lilo or grub configuration file.
/etc/lilo.conf or /etc/grub.conf

Set the new kernel to default.

And reboot the machine.

After then, check the kernel version.
# uname -a

Cheers,
S. Yang
