Correct.

We use RHN at work and use up2date to get the RHEL pieces.  We then
point yum at the Dag archives and add on the bits that we want that RHEL
doesn't include (proftpd, bash-completion, etc.).  It's perfectly valid
to have multiple repositories.

At home, I use a RHEL rebuild and use yum to keep my entire system up to
date.  However, I am willing to take the risks associated with the 3rd
party distro in return for being cheap.  My employer minimizes its risk
by subscribing to RHN for the binary updates.
