You may be able to do this without LVM (unless you really want to use LVM -- then, as you see, it can be a bit more interesting). You stated that you can grow the LUN. You didn't mention the file system type, so I will assume ext3. 1) grow the LUN on the SAN 2) If needed, reboot the system so that it will really see the new size (though it won't appear just yet).
