Feel free to build yourself an SMP kernel.  You can start with the
kernel source and config that they provided.

Remember that the kernel is GPL and any distribution must also have a
buildable source.  And if the vedor starts getting huffy about
supporting you, walk away.  The whole point of Linux is freedom for
everyone, not just the vendor.
