No ieee1394 in RHES4?

Recently I tried to use a firewire hard drive on one of our RHES4
update2 servers. I was surprised to find no ieee1394 and related kernel
modules inside the 2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp kernel. 

Is this true or I did something wrong? Did redhat disable ieee1394
related kernel funtions? In that case, may I need rebuild the kernel to
create those modules?
