As someone who googles for answers for questions and hits archives of
various redhat lists including this one from time to time, let me say
that requiring a list signup just to view the archives sharply
devalues such a list, and eliminates a huge internet knowledge resource.

Imagine what would happen if some unsuspecting user had to subscribe to,
say, the Fedora-Users list just to see some archive post... the last time
I was a member of that list it ran at over 200 messages a day, more during
the inevitable, regular flamewars.

Keep the archives public.
