up2date - package update dependency

Hi,

We have servers which have not been updated with patches for quite some time 
(since year 2005). The latest package usually have the following dependancy:

"Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied."

1. If we apply "up2date --installall", will rhn auto resolve these version 
dependency issues?
2. If we just up2date for only certain latest critical package updates, eg: 
up2date -u wget, will up2date also update the package with the previous and 
latest update?

Appreciate someone can advice me on this.
