good morning ladies and gentlemen,

hopefully you can be of any assistence to me because
i am not sure wether to post this message here or send
it to ARKEIA. i have a redhat 6.2 server with a 2.2.19 kernel. everything
seems to run smoothly until the point
where i aint in the office one day and nobody changes the
tape. the jobs get queue'd. this morning i logged onto the
console, started arkeia, and noticed there was 1 job waitig. i inserted the
tape and pressed ok to start it.. next
popped a message up that another backup was scheduled
aswell after this one. the tape unit, in this case a ONSTREAM ADR30 unit,
froze completely. the only
solution i see to regain control over the tape unit is to reboot
the machine, but since it has all my smb shares email etc etc on it, i'd
rather postpone it if i can avoid it. i tryed
releasing the tape with mt -f /dev/st0 rewoffl but that does
not work at all. the tape unit seems active but does not
do anything..

can somebody help? or should i contact onstream / arkeia
for this? i cant seem to find an error message in the logfile..

any hints on how to solve this would be grately appreciated.

kind regards,

ralph houben
