In answer to your 2 questions:

i)	Ignore the glibc instruction for the i686... you're correct there isn't
one.
ii) Update all packages in the noarch as the * suggests.

I have used precisely this method from Emmanuel and it works a treat. The
only issues I had were that the nfs-utils package was needed together with
the mount and losetup plus the the open-ssl and openldap packages had to be
upgraded (rpm -Uvh) in advance of the full freshen of the i386 packages,
since there were dependencies on certain library files.

but I have another 2 questions:

1 - on i686/ there isn't any glibc-*
2 - You say that I need 3 directory: i386 i686 noarch.
What I must download from noarch directory ?
