Afternoon all, I just wish to drop an email to let folks know that we have released new bugfix code of the RHN Proxy and Satellite 4.2 versions - 4.2.2. This release has no new features. The release notes will be published to http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/satellite/ within the next 2 business days and are copied below in this notice. NOTES ----- 1) For RHN Proxy 4.2.2 Users we have one note: A bugfix for allowing RHEL 5 clients to download content via a RHN Proxy 4.2 system which is communicating to a Satellite or RHN Hosted (rhn.redhat.com) via a HTTP Proxy requires that the following line is added to the /etc/squid/squid.conf file: range_offset_limit -1 KB This configuration value will be added automatically for any new installations of RHN Proxy 4.2 using a 4.2.2 Satellite, but is not added for already deployed RHN Proxy servers, or those using/installed against RHN Hosted. So: RHN Hosted <-> HTTP Proxy <-> RHN Proxy <-> Clients or Satellite <-> HTTP Proxy <-> RHN Proxy <-> Clients You may also need to purge your RHN Proxy squid cache if you have partial Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 rpms within squid cache which are being mistakenly served as whole RPM's to RHEL 5 yum clients. This would be to clean up the cache (all cache will be lost): service rhn-proxy stop rm -rf /var/spool/squid/* squid -z service rhn-proxy start 2) Any Satellite or RHN Proxy being updated will want a full stop and start of the rhn-satellite or rhn-proxy services to ensure the new code is being used. 3) There is one bugfix we did for Satellite, not noted within the Release Notes (due to its late addition). This is: A bug has been fixed where normal users were not able to schedule the re-provisioning of a registered system within the Satellite WebUI via a registered RHN Proxy server, when the user does not have access to manage the registered RHN Proxy server. The fix in place now allows all users to re-provision registered systems, which they normally have access to within the Satellite WebUI, via any registered RHN Proxy. [Yes - I just wrote that summary, and not someone in docs - it shows :) ] RHN Proxy 4.2.2 Release Notes ----------------------------- * An issue has been addressed in which Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 clients could not download packages via an Red Hat Network Proxy 4.2 server when it used an HTTP proxy to reach either Red Hat Network or Red Hat Network Satellite. * A bug has been fixed where if you upload a package to Red Hat Network using rhns-proxy-manager, it does not compute the package and sends header_start and header_end to Red Hat Network. Satellite 4.2.2 Release Notes ----------------------------- * When packages appear without links in an errata due to database tables being out of sync, it is possible to force repopulation with new option --force-all-errata. * When using the web form to submit a kickstart pre- or post-script that includes any method for expressing string literals (double-angle bracket >> or backslash \), such as here-documents or line continuations, the web form now properly handles special characters upon submission. * All custom %post scripts are now run after the default Red Hat Network Satellite scripts, which allows users to remove or edit the contents of the default /etc/motd file with content or files specified by the custom %post script. * Links on the Newer Versions -> Relevant Errata page now point to resolvable URLs. * When scheduling for a system, all kickstart profile options are now preserved, including Red Hat Network Proxy selection, Package Profile, and Kernel command line options. Satellite ISOs -------------- New Satellite 4.2.2 ISO's will be made available for download via RHN within the next 1 -> 2 business days. 6d9ce6a1a4f0e5e3faf9c85ec629b511 rhn-satellite-4.2.2-5-redhat-linux-as-i386-3-embedded-oracle.iso ac4071ca9f1ad6e73a9bbbfc4540cd9f rhn-satellite-4.2.2-5-redhat-linux-as-i386-3.iso 971ce459ca04a81a361705a249c7e3d6 rhn-satellite-4.2.2-5-redhat-linux-as-i386-4-embedded-oracle.iso 4d7b91042da896f95bc7b65e66d7b0cd rhn-satellite-4.2.2-5-redhat-linux-as-i386-4.iso Red Hat Network Satellite (v4.2 for AS v4 x86) https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/channel/downloads/Download.do?cid=6690 Red Hat Network Satellite (v4.2 for AS v3 x86) https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/channel/downloads/Download.do?cid=6691 If any bugs or issues (even urgent issues) are noticed, please do escalate via your normal support channels with the appropriate level of severity.
