Thorsten,

Red hat really advises against this so there really isn't a proper way
to do this.

There's a knowledge base article about this though (actually about
upgrading RHEL 3 to RHEL 4): Article ID 7366 which talks about an
upgrade option of the installer.

But I recommend you check the KB article (and taking a good *restorable*
backup) before continuing with this.

Regards

Bram

Subject: [rhn-users] Update from ES 4 to ES 5

Hi @all,

how can I update a running ES 4 (64bit) to ES 5 _without_ re-installing?
Is there a proper way of doing so?
How long will it take (approx.)?

Thanks for any help!

Thorsten
