vlc 1.1.5 is asking for a new autoconf >= 0.59c (which requires a new m4).

The easiest way is just commenting out the bootstrap line in the spec file:

#./bootstrap

and then the package builds just fine for rhel5.

I would also build the latest libmatroska for rhle5 and fedora 12:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/libebml-1.0.0-1.fc14.src.rpm

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/libmatroska-1.0.0-1.fc14.src.rpm

This way

BuildRequires: libmatroska-devel >= 0.8.0

BuildRequires: libmpcdec-devel

will be active for all distros.
