OK, I did something cool. There is now a 'do provides = ' in the defaults config file that will tell GRAB when to build a provides database. The choices are (1), at time of --update, (2) at time of download, (0) never. If you do it at --update time (1), GRAB will build a provides database of all packages defined on the remote servers. Caution this may cause a bottleneck on slower nets. On my home 1Mb connection it took around 15 minutes for 1500+ RPMS. The good news is that GRAB will skip any packages that have already been categorized, meaning if there are no new RPMS "out there" then there will be nothing to update. Choosing to do it at download time is the same as how version 1.0(.1) work. Not at all, will cause it to do the same level of checking as <1.0. Please test it out, and let me know if you have any questions, thoughts or problems. /G -- Greg Kurtzer [email protected] http://www.runlevelzero.net LINUX,... The choice of a GNU generation! :wq
