grab is giving it a status of lowercase u not uppercase U...which means glibc is showing up as an update for a different archetiecture i believe. the update is for i386...you have i686 glibc installed...grab is correctly NOT installing the glibc update becuase its the wrong arch. Though it would be nice if grab could report a warning about that when doing sysupdate...maybe something like "updates available but for a different arch...check with --showall" -jef On Thu, 2002-08-08 at 15:00, Carl Wilhelm Soderstrom wrote: > On Thu, Aug 08, 2002 at 02:47:58PM -0400, Jef Spaleta wrote: > > what status does grab report for the glibc update > > > > I would try grab --showall --search glibc > > hmm.. if I do a --showall --search glibc; it lists the glibc package itself. > (and shows that there is a newer version available). > if I do a --showall --sysupdate, it does not. > > > [root@barbarian-rh72 ~]# grab --showall --search glibc > -Comparing 10 of 1580 with Valgor > -Obtaining current RPM list > -Filtered Package Statistics: > 0 Consolidated, 0 Diff Arch, 0 Current, 0 Skip List, 0 Other Status > -Please select one (or more) of the following matched RPMS: > > Num S Package name Version Installed Arch Size Server Desc > --- - ------------------ ----------- ----------- ------ ------ > --------------- > 1 N compat-glibc 6.2-2.1.3.2 -- i386 2.1M redhat-base > 2 s glibc 2.2.4-13 2.2.4-13 i386 4.9M redhat-base > 3 S glibc 2.2.4-13 2.2.4-13 i686 5.5M redhat-base > 4 u glibc 2.2.4-24 2.2.4-13 i386 4.9M > redhat-updates > 5 S glibc-common 2.2.4-13 2.2.4-13 i386 8.5M redhat-base > 6 U glibc-common 2.2.4-24 2.2.4-13 i386 8.5M > redhat-updates > 7 S glibc-devel 2.2.4-13 2.2.4-13 i386 9.7M redhat-base > 8 U glibc-devel 2.2.4-24 2.2.4-13 i386 9.7M > redhat-updates > 9 N glibc-profile 2.2.4-13 -- i386 8.4M redhat-base > 10 N glibc-profile 2.2.4-24 -- i386 8.4M > redhat-updates > > [root@barbarian-rh72 ~]# grab --showall --sysupdate > -Updating remote RPM cache database > ->Grabbed and indexed [94] RPMS from realtime-packages > ->Grabbed and indexed [1234] RPMS from redhat-base > ->Grabbed and indexed [253] RPMS from redhat-updates > -Updating remote provides database with new packages > (you can disable this in /etc/grab/defaults or --nodeps) > -Comparing 1580 of 1580 with Valgor > -Obtaining current RPM list > -Filtered Package Statistics: > 0 Consolidated, 0 Diff Arch, 0 Current, 0 Skip List, 1577 Other Status > -Please select one (or more) of the following matched RPMS: > > Num S Package name Version Installed Arch Size Server Desc > --- - ------------------ ----------- ----------- ------ ------ > --------------- > 1 U glibc-common 2.2.4-24 2.2.4-13 i386 8.5M > redhat-updates > 2 U glibc-devel 2.2.4-24 2.2.4-13 i386 9.7M > redhat-updates > 3 U kernel-headers 2.4.9-34 2.4.7-10 i386 1.0M > redhat-updates > > Carl Soderstrom. > -- > Systems Administrator > Real-Time Enterprises > www.real-time.com > _______________________________________________ > Grab mailing list > [email protected] > http://www.runlevelzero.net/mailman/listinfo/grab
