Can't rely on hearsay, but I would assume that your right.

If the security patches are available from RH, and there was a defined
support period the only reason for change would be personal preference.
Unfortunately, the defined support period is ending in several months, which
_may_ affect the availability of RH security patches.

My personal preference is...

I have been burned many times by corporations making decisions that affect
the end users. The reality is that companies just do that. I got into Linux
and Open Source trying to get away from vertical vendor manipulation, and I
thought that I was far enough away that this won't affect me. What can happen
next? Discontinuing the free version (by making distribution components not 
free, thus limiting free redistribution)? Probably not, but who knows for 
sure?! Maybe follow some other distribution companies lead and go CH11? I
personally feel safer with a community solution... Also it wouldn't it be 
nice to have the hackers rule the distro/world? :)

Maybe I am an extremist. Maybe just an Open Source model bigot!
