It looks to me that it GRAB is stuck querying the rpm database.

Just curious if you can do an 'rpm -qa' at the command line, or does that hang
too?

If it does, try this:

   # mv /var/lib/rpm/__* /tmp/
   # rpm --rebuilddb

Actually the __* database files can be removed, but some people get scared when
I mention doing a rm on any files in /var/lib/rpm/ ;)

Give that a try, and let me know how that works out for you.
