OK I'll bite.  After quite a lot of consideration and some gentle feelers I'll
volunteer for this, assuming there aren't any major objections.  I guess I
should try and sell myself a bit though:

Why am I intrested?

I've been working with rpm for a reasonable period and I think I've got a
reasonably solid knowledge of it's operation and internals.  Likewise for the
python bindings.  My skill set includes both python and C, and I use rpm-python
to get stuff done (so yes I'm going to eat my own dogfood). I'm enthusiastic
and I'd like to think I've got on reasonably well with those in the rpm-python
community (if only electronically). 

How do I see the role?

Well I think there are a lot of people who have stated current defecits in
rpm-python, lots of people are doing good work using rpm-python, so making your
lives easier.  Also trying to work to get the changes done in a timely fashion,
and reach consensus on what to change first.  I'd tend to see the role more
with more emphasis on stewarding the very competent (hey flattery should get me
somewhere...) community so people can get the most out of rpm-python.

What now?

Well feedback would be a good start :)

Also I'd find it useful if Seth could enable me to see the list of subscribers
- so I can see if there are any obviously glaring omissions of people involved
in the discussion.

Then pretty much business as usual, trying to sort through peoples gripes and
wishlists, I've got a pretty good feel for people's current feelings on
rpm-python from the list so far, work through those get new ones, discuss what
people want first - I'm sure there are a few easy wins (hint comments on
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110226 still wanted).

So if people will take me I'd like to offer my services as rpm-python whipping
boy/architect, consider this an offer.
