Am I the only person to have noticed that realplay hangs when run under
RedHat 9.0 (Shrike)? The version of realplay is RealPlayer-8.0-1,
fetched as rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2.rpm recently from the Real
Networks web site. The sound software is ALSA-0.92 and aRts 0.4, which
seem to run OK for everything else. Has anyone else noticed problem?
Does anyone know a fix?

Please reply to me directly, since I subscribe to a number of lists and
sometimes miss things.

Here are the last few lines of an strace:

$ strace /usr/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay
...
open("/home/jonrysh/.RealNetworks_RealShared_00", O_RDONLY) = 3
flock(3, LOCK_EX)                       = 0
stat64("/home/jonrysh/.RealNetworks_RealShared_00", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644,
st_size=107, ...}) = 0
futex(0x817a148, FUTEX_WAIT, -135, NULL <unfinished ...>
	## Program terminated by ^C
