M5451 upgrade problem on Toshiba notebook to Redhat 9

I was running Redhat 8 with a fine working soundcard.
After upgrading to Redhat 9 it stopped to work
The soundcard detection recognizes the correct card:
ALI Corporation
M5451 PCI AC-Link Controller Audio Device
trident
but cannot set it up any more.
Any advice would be much apreciated.
