Thank you for your thoughtful analysis of my problems.<br>
<br>
My sound card now works.&nbsp; Finding, downloading and installing ALSA from
atrpms.net resolved that issue.&nbsp; I am surprised that ALSA is not part
of the six CD set of .iso files I used to move from Core 4 to Core 6. <br>

It was part of Core 4.<br>

Where can I read about this decision?&nbsp;&nbsp; How we innocents meant to
cope?&nbsp; Is/was this decision evident from the release notes?&nbsp;&nbsp; Was it
