Hallo,

there is no diffrence. Syslog on Linux works like Syslog on Solaris. Try
syslog-ng. Its more powerfull then the normal Syslog from Solaris/Linux. 
If not, the configfile is the same. You can use the Solaris one for Linux as
well.
