There are only about 20 or so lines that need to be added or modified. You could easily modify the http_protocol.c file by hand in a test editor, then follow the rest of the directions. I hope you saved the http_protocol.c and made a backup before you patched. Remember, you can only patch an unmodified source file once, and if any fails, you either have to make the changes by hand, or start from a new http_protocol.c file.
