creating a DVD

I've seen various methods around for creating DVD's for single-disk
installs.  What I really would like to know is this: are the binaries on
the CD's similar enough that I could create a DVD from the AS dvd, then
rpm -Uvh --force to the correct redhat-release rpm after install?  It
would be convenient to be able to use one set of cd's or dvd for
install, instead of having a library of 12 cd's to keep track of.

Thoughts?
