weird behaivor of vgextend with LG Name without numbers

hi

i'm playing with LVM and after a sucefull installation of RHEL under 3 VG=
 with diferents
LG now i want to add anothe PV to one othe already created VG and this is=
 the output of
vgextend:

[[email protected] lvmtab.d]# vgextend -v Mail /dev/cciss/c0d4p2
vgextend -- locking logical volume manager
vgextend -- please enter a volume group name first

if i add a 0 (cero) to the name vgextend at least check for the existence=
 of that VG

[[email protected] lvmtab.d]# vgextend -v Mail0 /dev/cciss/c0d4p2
vgextend -- locking logical volume manager
vgextend -- checking volume group name "Mail0"
vgextend -- checking volume group "Mail0" existence
vgextend -- volume group "Mail0" doesn't exist


the VG called "Mail" exist and is working fine, from the command vgdispla=
y:

is this correct? is this only happening to me?
no where in the documentation say that the name of the VG have to had a n=
umber inside
(Although it suggest to do that during installation time)
