At one point in time I thought that there was a little hook in the init structure that, if a file in / named ".unconfigure" was present, the user would be queried on boot for thinks like IP data and root password. I know that firstboot exists now for relatively mundane things like TZ and adding packages, but is there still a tool that will allow a system to boot and query the user for sysconfig-type info?
