The trouble is that asking Redhats lawyers about licensing and the GPL is 
about as good as asking SCO's lawyers. They are not the authorative source 
regarding the issue, they will always seek to twist it to their companies 
advantage.

The real 'moral' issue ought to be settled by those parts of the 
'community' that havent been bought by Redhat.

It seems crazy to me that people are prepared to work for free on rhl and 
RHES etc when there has been absolutely no indication from Redhat Inc 
that any sort of totally free license is going to apply to the products 
resulting from the projects. So - Redhat Inc want to get paid for _your_ 
work.

You could spend a lot of time working on the project to then find that you 
couldnt even legally use the fruits of your labours without paying 
through the nose every year !!

And come post December 31st when after RH have dropped support for 7.2,7.3 
and 8.0 there is a major remote security hole in a standard package, all 
of this is suddenly going to seem a lot more real to a lot of people.

You either pay redhat $$$ per year per system, or you will have to upgrade 
all of your systems, with all the problems and changes 
that involves.

That is why a new community distro is being developed, if you want to be 
able to use the product you are you involved in totally freely for ever 
then have a look at www.caosity.org - its still in its early 
pre-release stages and is looking for people to get involved.
