X lockups on taroon

Hi all,
I have an Compaq Proliant 1600 that I am trying to run taroon on.
If I run it in run level 3 all seems ok. If I start up X it gets stuck.
I have applied all of the latest updates and no change. One thing I did
notice is that if I unplug the keyboard and mouse the login prompt will come
up. If I plug the keyboard in it will let me login but if I switch from X
to a text console and back to X it gets stuck again. With the mouse and
keyboard plugged in typing a few characters and then moving the mouse lets
the characters print on the screen. I suspect this is some kind of interrupt
problem but I do not know for sure. I even got another mouse and keyboard and
plugged them directly into the computer bypassing the kvm switch but no change.

The logs do not show anything significant at least as far as I can tell. The
only things I can see that appear to be errors are the following:

PCI: Enabling device 00:14.2 (0000 -> 0001)
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin D of device 00:14.2. Probably buggy MP table.

and

Sep 15 21:16:51 coyote gdm(pam_unix)[836]: session opened for user root by (uid=0)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to truoble shoot this??
