Just wanted to confirm that we're experiencing this behavior as well.
We have the same problem in Red Hat 9 (but not earlier versions), and it
seems that others are as well:

Appears to be a problem handling SSL certificates with Subject
Alternative Name fields (which our LDAP server SSL certs have).
One of the attachments to that bug report is a patch from a user.
Perhaps someone at Red Hat could incorporate that?
