I'm running Taroon with all the latest updates on a dual opteron 240 (x86_64) machine. I've been trying to update to vanilla kernel 2.4.22, and while that compiles fine, when trying to log in to X (with a Gnome session) I get a box that says: "Your session only lasted less then [sic] 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of diskspace. Try logging in with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem." Then if I click "View details (~/.xsession-errors file)" it shows the following: GThread ERROR **: file gthread-posix.c: line 135 (): error 'No such process' during 'pthread_getschedparam (pthread_self(), &policy, &sched)' aborting... Then it logs me out. I can log in OK with a KDE session or a failsafe session. I also get the same with a vanilla 2.4.23-pre6 kernel, but if I reboot with the Red Hat 2.4.21-3.ELsmp kernel, Gnome works fine. Could this be something in my kernel config, or is a Red Hat kernel patch required to make threads work? # rpm -q glib2 glib2-2.2.3-2.0 # uname -a Linux terra.xxxx 2.4.22 #13 SMP Tue Sep 30 15:52:49 GMT+12 2003 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux -Simon -- Taroon-beta-list mailing list [email protected] http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/taroon-beta-list
