oracle 9i on Taroon

It seems I can now get past the initial error
"/tmp/OraInstall2003-08-01_12-19-48PM/jre/i386/libjava.so:
symbol __libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in libc.so.6 with link
time reference" by setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 but now the installer bombs with a java null pointer error in the oracle installer logs.  Anyone seen this???  Thanks!
