I have installed Oracle 9.2.0.4 on taroon,
 
installed blackdown java v3 in /usr/local
replaced
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.3.1.0.0/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/
with Sun Java 1.3.1_09 in 9.2.0.1
 
installed 
gcc-3.2.3-16
cpp-3.2.3-16
glibc-2.3.2-74
glibc-devel-2.3.2-74
glibc-kernheaders-2.4-8.29
compat-gcc-7.3.2.96.199
compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.199
 
I ran the installer, when linking several files failed but ignore them
 
replaced
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.3.1.0.0/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/
with Sun Java 1.3.1_09 in service patch 3
 
run the installer, upgrade the installer and exit
 
run the installer and patch the oracle install, I had one error
ins_oemagent.mk, not important to us, everything else worked.
 
I am still working on a final install but my dba has built a database and
testing it now.

Anyone ever have any resolution with installing Oracle on RH 3.0?? I read a
number of the posts from August and Sept and it seemed like no one ever had
a definitive success with installing 9i on taroon.
