Great! This is very helpful. To get this to work under RH 9 I had to download the source and comment out line 336 of the synaptics.c file. The rpm did not work for me. Also, despite what the --help says, the -t option doesn't work; to turn off the tapping you need to specify the option --tapmode=0.
