Resolution 1024 & TouchPad Problem

I've installed RedHat 9.0 on my Acer Travel Mate 280

1. i can't set my screen resolution to 1024x768 with 16/24 bit depth,
   but 640x480 16 bit works fine
2. apmd doesn't work either

another problem is after running X -configure and following the step
my monitor screwed up =<
