the driver seems to be rejecting all modes except 1400x1050 and 1280x1024. I'm not sure why off hand. you might try generating a custom modeline for 1024x768. Did 1024x768 work in a previous version of xfree86? I seem to recall a similar discuss a while back on one of the xfree86 ML's but I don't remember what the outcome was.
